Admission Criteria

The following criteria are requirements for admission to the Freedom House for Women Supportive Services program:

  • Adult (18+)
  • A referral from a social service agency: The following are examples of referral sources:
    • Akron Metropolitan Housing Authority
    • Adult Parole Authority
    • Children Service Board
  • Complete a screening intake
  • Must complete an assessment or have completed an assessment within the past 12 months
  • Resident of Summit County


Who are we?

Freedom House for Women is a non-profit organization, which offers services to Summit County residents who meet requirement for services. The organization offers two programs for women 1) Supportive Services which are geared to prevent homelessness of individuals who are challenged with possible eviction from their public subsidized housing or for individuals who are referred to prevent legal community sanctions.

2) New Journey Recovery Housing Services are for single women who are seeking a safe, drug free recovery environment with supportive services that have completed a certified approved Summit County treatment program and meet other admission criteria.

  • Financial Literacy
  • Getting Ahead
  • Parenting 101
  • Recovery Coaching
  • Relapse Prevention
  • Substance Education
  • Transportation Assistance

Cost of services

  • Cost of services for client’s may be covered by funding for participants that meet specific criteria


Length of Services

  • Compliance of attendance and program rules
  • Completion of individual goals
  • Each individual’s length of service is viewed on a case-by-case basis
  • Services range in length from 4-12 weeks
