Freedom House October 9 2010 summit court common pleas court table.The Board of Directors of Freedom House for Women, Inc. would like to thank the support of the community for all their support in making our 2nd Annual Benefit and Recognition Dinner a huge success! Through the support of donors, guest and sponsors the organization was able to net $2,530 which will be used for general support of the organizations mission to prevent homelessness of Akron Metropolitan Housing participants.

The following honorees were recognized: Akron Metropolitan Housing Authority (Sherri Scheetz, Chief Administrative Officer, Tina Brown, Property Manager and Stephanie Sims, Property Manager), Access to Recovery(Alisha Clark, Project Director), Brown Mackie College (Karyn Rau-Goldmeier, MA), Omnova Solution Foundation( Theresa Carter, President), Summit County Adult Probation Department (Michelle Kocian), The Sisler McFawn Foundation (Mr. Michael Ayers) and The University of Akron (Dr. Rosalie Hall), Volunteers (Joseph Strempek and Jessica Sowell) and Freedom House for Women successful program graduates.

In support of our mission and those served; advocate and business owner Jodi Leigh Berg of Cleveland, OH will present to Freedom House guests on the significance of developing a strong support system.  She is the fourth-generation family member to serve at Vita-Mix Corporation and is also the company’s newest president.  She shared how success is a collaborative venture.  No one individual makes it without the participation of numerous individuals in shaping their existence.  Jodi Berg has led the company’s sales and marketing efforts through impressive global and domestic growth and now distributes in more than 80 countries.  Berg held management positions within the world-renowned hospitality companies of The Ritz-Carlton Hotel Company and Marriott Corporation. Jodi Berg received her bachelor’s degree from Bowling Green University and her master’s degree from Washington State University. Berg traveled the globe to train companies and government officials on the leadership practices of the Malcolm Baldrige National Quality Award.
